Q: What's the benefit of installing an automatic underground irrigation system versus other watering methods?
A: An automatic irrigation system is the method of watering closest to that of natural rain. This watering method creates a healthy lawn and root system. Additionally, a custom designed system is installed and adjusted to meet the unique watering needs of your property. It saves you time, and is more efficient than other watering methods and minimizes water waste.

Q: How long will it take to install my system?
A: The time required to install your irrigation system depends upon the size and complexity of the project. Waterworks Irrigation makes every effort to cause minimal amount of disruption when installing and servicing systems.

Q: How do I maintain my system?
A: Your irrigation system should be serviced at least twice per year to maintain its efficiency and effectiveness and maximize water conservation.

Q: Are your technicians trained?
A: Yes, training begins with our on-site Licensed Irrigation Technician Apprenticeship Program and is continuous throughout the year. State-mandated recertification training is required by law through the Plumber & Pipefitters Union for which we are members.

Q: Are permits required for installation of an irrigation system?
A: Yes, most towns require a licensed contractor to pull a permit before work to begin. Working without a permit can result in large fines from both town and state regulatory agencies.

Q: Can you recommend a trusted landscaping company to accompany your system?
A: Yes, we are associated with Sullivan Landscape Services in Ivoryton, CT, a renowned and respected company in the field of landscape design, service and site work for over 20 years. When our teams work together, the customer can expect only the best irrigation system and property maintenance in the field.

Q: Can I irrigate plantings, hanging or potted, with the system?
A: Yes, we can provide drip and micro irrigation to handle watering of bed and container plants.

Q: Will an irrigation system conserve water as compared to manual watering?
A: Yes, you will use approximately 50% less water when your property is covered by a properly designed system versus using garden hoses and wave sprinklers.

Q: Will high iron in my well affect the irrigation system?
A: Yes it can, however we have options available to neutralize iron in the irrigation water.

Q: Will my house water supply be protected?
A: Yes, as per code, all systems are installed with the proper backflow prevention matched to the type of water supply.

Troubleshooting

Q: My system is not shutting off automatically, what should I do?
A: Manually turn the system off at the control box by hitting the “off” switch. If this doesn’t work, turn off the water supply. Call for professional service.

Q: My system will not start although it is programmed, what should I do?
A: Your system is equipped with an automatic rain sensor. It is designed to recognize when the lawn needs watering. If you feel water is still needed, the system can be turned on manually through the control box.
